About Us

We are a private-run campground, and it is primarily run by US! :) We like to make it a family project, and we are all passionate about making the campground an enjoyable place for your whole family. We took over the campground from its original owners in late 2017, and have been really enjoying the lake, campground family, Hawley, and surrounding area!

Justin grew up in Roseau, MN. He has always loved to tinker and fix, and has helped on construction and car projects many times throughout his life. After building his own house in 2013, he learned even more about mechanical and construction things. Now, after 6 years of running the campground and intense remodeling projects, there's nothing he hasn't seen, and almost nothing he can't fix! Justin also loves music, and has been in various bands since he was 16 years old. He still often composes his own songs, and loves to perform when he gets the chance! He is active in the Hawley Lutheran Church band. He has also started a new side business doing woodworking, creating some beautiful home decor pieces. 

Amanda comes from both Middle River and Thief River Falls, MN. She grew up in a home child care, and while taking care of her kids is her main passion in life, she has also always enjoyed writing and music. Besides a long career working with kids, she has an extensive customer service and office background. She grew up way out in the boonies, so coming up with enjoyable outdoor activities and helping the lost and injured animals on the campground is something that comes as second nature! 

Blaise and Sophie are twins. They are 10 years old and in 5th grade. They absolutely love nature and wildlife, and you may often spot them gathering flowers and foraging, or trying to catch frogs and snakes! They are also very creative and into art, so you may see their influence in some of the projects in our activities! 

Indigo is 7 and in 1st grade. She has a quirky personality; very sweet, with a touch of sass! She loves to tag along with her older siblings, and is also very passionate about helping animals. She can already swim like a fish! 

Kellen is 3 and in his first year of preschool. He has various interests, including play-dough, coloring, building with Legos and Magna-Tiles, imaginative play, and exploring the world outside! He's also very active and might be our athlete. You're most likely to spot him "helping" Mom in the lodge, or being a little monkey at the playground. 

You'll primarily find Justin out and about, taking care of repairs, updates, and maintenance on the campground. He is great about helping people, just make sure you schedule with us in the lodge, first, as he is always pretty busy! Amanda can usually be found in the lodge on weekends. She enjoys cooking and baking, roasting coffee beans and doing MORE baking both in the lodge and as a side business, as well as designing and creating all the clothing and gift items for the lodge. Come check it out sometime! 

We love our employees! While we strive to do as much of the work ourselves as we can, we admit we are human and need help from time to time--and these folks sure do an amazing job lightening the load! Make sure to give them a friendly hello when you see them!
